Billow V

Video Photo Info
Billow V is an artwork installed at the headquarters of ING Spain in Madrid.

The Billow V screen displays abstract animations created using real-time data from searches on Google platforms.

The colors indicate how popular a specific topic becomes; the more viral the search, the warmer the tones. Each day’s popular queries momentarily appear as overlaid text before dissolving into a smoky abstraction. These persistent forms create the illusion of intertwined images.

Another key element of the work is the curved, architectural intersections of its sculptures. The undulating silhouettes of technological streams evoke the natural world of rivers, hills, and valleys. Canogar creates sculptures from the immaterial electronic realm to better understand the constant ebb and flow of our digital age.

The data-sphere is a driving force of society and the economy, despite its invisible nature. This lack of visibility can make it difficult to comprehend how information affects daily life. Billow V seeks to reveal the hidden threads of data networks.
