Scanner Salamanca is a permanent installation located in the Real Clerecía de San Marcos in Salamanca, a historic 17th-century building.
A large tangle of electrical, telephone, and computer cables hangs from the ceiling like a giant spider's web. White lines are projected onto these cables, and as the light falls across their intricate forms, it transforms the entire structure into a dynamic display of shimmering sparks that appear to travel along the length of the cables.
The work evokes the pumping action of the human circulatory system, as well as the pulse that drives the computer networks underlying our electronic reality.
